Partnership 101
Become a partner
How do I become a member of Grace Church?
That’s an interesting question for us. We’ve had to rethink it, because just a few years ago, we were seeing …
- People who were frustrated or discouraged by what felt like being processed.
- People who had a negative cultural association with the word “membership.”
- Members at Grace who were not actively engaged in any ministry.
It had begun to feel like membership was a static expression of connection to our church body. So we made a change to “partnership.” Partnership is a better expression that encourages real relationship and engagement. Of course, the fundamentals didn’t change:
- Every believer across the globe is a vital part of God’s Church.
- Real and meaningful relationships within a local body are essential to our spiritual health.
- Committed involvement in a local body of believers is the model set forth in scripture.
So, then, how do you partner with us? Partnership simply means Pursuing Jesus, In Relationship, At Grace.
- Pursuing Jesus: Any desire to know Jesus. You could start from a place of unbelief, or you could be a seasoned Christian.
- In relationship: Someone in the body knows your name, you know partners’ names, you know where to go if you need help or clarification, prayer or fellowship.
- At Grace: A desire to partner or get involved in one or more of the opportunities offered at Grace.
As you’ll find at our church if you dive in with us, this model is not perfect either. But we are finding that partnership is pushing us toward closer connections with one another, better conversations about what it means to be part of a church body, and more participation in what God is doing in our church. Come partner with us!
