NEW TO GRACE:
Once you arrive, some friendly folks will direct you where you need to go – our greeters love to make people feel welcome. They'll hand you our informative church program, direct you to our Welcome Center, where you can get more information about our church, and answer any questions you may have about the services or our ministries.
If you have children, you can be sure that they will love our specially designed programs just for them. Be confident in knowing that we have taken extensive measures to ensure their safety and security while in our care.
As you enter the main sanctuary, a greeter will welcome you and offer assistance seating you for the service. Now is your chance to enjoy all God has for you through our services at Grace.
We sing a few songs, hear stories of how God is working in people's lives, and hear some important truths from the Bible. At Grace we are committed to providing an upbeat environment that offers hope, healing and restoration. Our Lead Pastor, Justin Ross, is highly regarded as a teacher, motivator, guide and has plenty of experience leading. Each week Pastor Justin will give you practical teaching you can apply to your everyday life.
Our contemporary style of music is designed to appeal to a younger generation without driving away everyone else, and our focus is on music that God can use to reveal Himself to people and that we can use to express our hearts to Him. We know that when people see Him, real worship happens.
We try to adapt to the culture and lifestyle of our people here in the Durango area. We are casual just as our people are casual. We encourage you to “come as you are” and not worry about outward appearances. Whether you’re comfortable wearing slacks or shorts, ties or tie-dye, you will be accepted just as you are.
We want you to relax and enjoy the freedom of not being pressured to give. Giving is something we do every week as Disciples of Christ. Tithing and cheerful giving is a tangible opportunity for us to place our financial trust in God as we honor Him with our tithes and offerings. Most Sundays you won't even see an offering plate passed. We believe that giving is a personal act of worship that should not be for "show." So we have offering boxes where people can give in a private moment of worship.
Grace Church is centrally located in Durango on Florida Road. We are just a few minutes down the hill from Fort Lewis College, three miles from Camino Del Rio and the Animas River. Our address is:

Our weekend worship service is at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. every Sunday.
Each weekend at Grace Church children (birth through 5th grade) learn about Jesus in safe, age-appropriate environments. Through creative biblical teaching, we work together to teach kids how to do the greatest thing they can possibly do with their lives...love Jesus with all their heart, mind, and strength.
We'd love to see you and your family this weekend as we discover all God has for us.
gKids - an interactive ministry for kids in K-5th grades where they will focus on their relationships with God through large and small group experiences.
Nursery - a nurturing atmosphere where babies are loved and cared for while hearing about Jesus.
Toddlers - a caring environment where toddlers up to age 3 gain a first impression of who God is through song based teaching.
gKids Preschool - where 3-5 year old children encounter Biblical truths as they participate in a variety of hands-on activities and video based lessons.
Grace Church requires all volunteers and staff to complete a full background check prior to serving with children. All entrances and exits to the gKids area are monitored before, during and after each service by our trained Grace Security Team. Upon completion of child check-in, please keep your security tag for check out.
All of our children's venues are open for parents to tour – in fact, we encourage it. We want you to feel totally at home and at ease in partnering with us in these most spiritually significant years of your child's life. Please stop by the check-in desk to request a tour. If you have questions or need further assistance with your child (birth-5th grade), please contact Katie Davis at katie@gracedurango.com.
Membership at Grace Church is based on your commitment! Members tithe, volunteer, attend services regularly, and contribute to the body of Christ with the gifts, experiences, calling, and anointing of God on their lives. If you are interested in membership at Grace Church, please visit the welcome center in the main lobby or visit our Discovering Grace page to learn more about membership and to register for our next membership class.
KIDS:
gKids - an interactive ministry for kids in K-5th grades where they will focus on their relationships with God through large and small group experiences.
We like to think of children's ministry as discipleship...not daycare. While gKids has child care for our little ones by meeting their physical needs in a nurturing environment, we are also committed to meeting the spiritual needs of your children. gKids partners with parents and strives to provide an extremely fun and safe environment during all services. Our curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of the Bible at an age-appropriate level.
During the worship service all of our children (including infants) meet downstairs. Stairwell is located in the Café.
Grace Church takes your child's safety seriously, which is monitored in three parts. First, we conduct an extensive background check on every children's ministry leader, from staff to volunteers. Second, the Grace Security Team supervises the children's floor during all weekend services. Lastly, upon check-in you'll receive a security tag that matches the security code on your child's name tag. They are only allowed to be picked up by an individual with their matching security tag.
Each summer we take the upcoming 4th-5th grade students to PEAK Kid's Camp in Larkspur, Colorado! In the winter, we host a retreat for the 2nd-5th grade students as a way for them to take a pause during the school year to connect with God, their gKids leaders and each other.
Several times a year, kids and families are invited to attend gKids Family Experience (FX). These are fun and interactive evenings of worship and learning for families. Parents will engage in gKids style worship with their children and learn about the Life App for the month. It's a great night of music, games, family-fun and connecting with other Grace families!
TEENS:
Our Student Ministry (6th-12th grade) exists to leverage everything to reach students that are far from Christ and help them to find a meaningful life in Him. Our goal is to partner with parents to worship Christ, make disciples, equip students with the Gospel, and foster a community where students feel known and cared for. Our leaders are background checked and trained to invest in the Next Generation.
With the current pandemic that we are living in, our student ministry is not meeting in person. You can follow our Instagram @GSMDurango and GSM Parent Facebook page for up-to-date virtual options.
We meet weekly on Sunday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (High School) & Wednesday (Middle School) from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. to have fun, hang out, hear relevant teaching from the Bible and to spend time in small groups talking about life & faith.
If you have any questions or would like more information, email our NextGen Pastor at cody@gracedurango.com.
For information about upcoming events and to stay connected, follow our Instagram and GSM Parent Facebook Group.
GENERAL:
Grace is a family where we live life together, celebrate together, worship together and challenge one another to keep God first in our lives. The best thing about Grace is that Jesus is always talked about. Life is found in Him and Him alone. If you are looking for a place to belong or for a family who will encourage you…you just might have found the right place at Grace.
No, we've been serving here in Durango for more than 50 years, and Pastor Justin was born and raised right here in Durango and has been our lead pastor for 4 years. We're more local than most Durango locals.
Our worship team provides a passionate, contemporary upbeat style of music. We blend our music with a balance of worship and meditative songs to help people connect with God in an intimate way. We are a contemporary style church, but we value the "old hymns" as well. Most of all we strive for our music to be a reflection of our love for God. It is important to us to reach all ends of the spectrum because our multi-generational church has so much to lend to everyone. We value different styles an incorporate traditional classics and new songs.
You will see people raising their hands, shouting to the Lord, you may see people crying or responding with emotion to the Lord in worship. We have people in various stages of their growth in the Lord and we welcome everyone, regardless of their stage, season, or comfort level. We consider ourselves a church who passionately worships the Lord and we encourage it, but we do not pressure you.
We're so thankful to have a mix of young and old. Right now the biggest group is our thirty-something families and their kids. During the semesters, we usually have a large number of college-aged folks, too. And our youth ministry is growing. Thankfully, there are also a few mature believers who can help us stay on the right path.
Yes. Like we said, we're casual. If you don't mind seeing the occasional stain, we don't mind food and drink in the sanctuary. Or you can wait till you get here and help yourself to some of our yummy coffee.
We like a mixture of both. Either way, we use the Bible heavily, because we know the truth always bears fruit.
Yes. You will be in good company because we don't have any perfect people at Grace Church!
